Directions:

Here is the route we normally use, coming from central London:
A2 and M2 Motorway, then A2 again, towards Canterbury (beware of carrying on towards Margate; essential to filter left where the M2/A2 diverges from, the A299).

From the Canterbury Bypass (A2) turn left, signposted to Canterbury(not to Sandwich!) Avoid the city centre by following signs to "A257" or "Sandwich" at several roundabouts.

At the traffic lights beside Aldi, filter left signposted to Sandwich, then right at a mini-roundabout. Follow the A257 to Sandwich via Wingham, and Ash Bypass.

Go across the Sandwich Bypass at a roundabout straight on towards the town centre. Follow the one-way system clockwise until you reach the Market Square and the imposing timbered Guildhall.

Turn left at the Guildhall, and the private drive to St John's Cottages is immediately on your right, beside the HSBC Bank.

Or come by A20 to Dover, then A256 to Sandwich.

For AIR TRAVELLERS, there is now a train service from Gatwick Airport to Sandwich, changing trains at Tonbridge but avoiding a change of stations in London.

For train enquiries, ring 08457 484950.  Some EUROSTAR trains through the Channel Tunnel from Paris, Lille and Brussels now stop at the new Ashford International Station, which with its multi-storey car park is only 27 miles by car or train from Sandwich.  So a day trip to Paris (2 hours from Ashford) is easy.  "LE SHUTTLE" continues to be popular with many people staying with us, for day trips by car, including shopping and lunch in Calais or Boulogne.
